Now that Halloween is over and we don’t have to think about carving pumpkins, we can paint them! Using mini pumpkins and adding a coat of spray paint to them in various colors can elevate your Thanksgiving centerpiece. To take it one step further, add little name labels to the painted pumpkins and use them as place cards!

2. Metallic Magic

Glitter and metallic paint can really add a pop of texture and sparkle to your decor. Mix and match, golds, silvers, rose golds and copper tones. You can add a little bit of sparkle and shine to just about anything…think gourds, pumpkins, dried leaves, corn cobs, and the list goes on!

When you’re pulling out your candle sticks, lanterns, and platters to create you Thanksgiving centerpiece, don’t get stuck in the rut of using all one metal tone. Mix and match your silver candle sticks with you gold lanterns and your copper platter. If you’re one of those people who can’t wear gold if you have something silver on, be bold, step out of your comfort zone and throw them all together, you might be surprised at how well they play together on the same table.

Thanksgiving is the day we take time to think about what we are grateful for in our lives. As you gather in your home with all your family and friends, have everyone take a moment during the day to write down what they are thankful or grateful for. A simple can of chalkboard paint on a piece of board in a picture frame can be a wonderful place to capture everyones thoughts in one spot.

If you have kids at home and want a fun project for them to help and be involved in, creating painted pinecones for your place settings is the perfect project! Take a walk with them and gather pinecones for each of your Thanksgiving guests. Then choose paint in colors that match your centerpiece, using a small paintbrush have the kids paint the tips of each pine cone. Add a little tag with each guests name, and you have custom place cards that you and your kids can feel proud of.
